Dear Parents / Carers,
On May 25th 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation came into effect across the EU. It is a new law that is being implemented in exactly the same way across all EU countries to create a level set of rules to ensure all data held and processed by organisations within the EU is secure and processed lawfully.

Public organisations, schools (and academies) are required to comply with GDPR. At Chapel Green School we have been working on our GDPR readiness since November 2017. Since then we have:
- Appointed a Data Protection Officer (DPO) – Dylan Yates
- Been on training courses
- Provided training for school staff
- Developed updated Policies and procedures
The process of updating our practice to maintain full GDPR compliance will be an ongoing one. We do already have robust Data Protection policies and procedures but with an expanding school and new guidance there are likely to be some unforeseen scenarios that will require adjustments.
We are working on our practice to ensure that GDPR is central to our day-to-day culture. We already highly value and protect all of our pupil, parent and staff data and are continuing to do so.
As a parent/carer you will receive an annual letter from us regarding data associated with yourself and your child. Please do read and send back everything you receive.
Dylan Yates (DPO)
